Professor Sezcan Mümüşoğlu, MD, ranked among the top 50 students out of over 1.2 million applicants in Turkey's University Entrance Exam, gaining admission to the Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University in 1999. He graduated as the top student in 2005. From 2005 to 2010, Dr. Mümüşoğlu completed his residency training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.
After completing his compulsory service at Bitlis Tatvan State Hospital, he worked at Bursa Zübeyde Hanım Maternity Hospital and the Gynecological Oncology Unit of Istanbul Zeynep Kamil Training and Research Hospital, where he enhanced his experience in advanced gynecological endoscopic surgeries.
In 2014, he returned to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine as a faculty member and completed training in assisted reproductive techniques.
Between 2015 and 2016, he completed the “Introduction to Clinical Research and Training (ICRT)” program provided by Harvard Medical School, earning a certificate in clinical epidemiology and statistics.
In 2016, he received training from Prof. Dr. Kazuhiro Kawamura, the creator of the "in-vitro activation (IVA)" technique for treating premature ovarian insufficiency, at St. Marianna University in Japan.
In 2018, Sezcan Mümüşoğlu was promoted to Associate Professor at Hacettepe University. Between 2018 and 2019, he worked as a visiting scholar at Stanford University in Professor Aaron Hsueh’s lab. One of his studies on the pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome was funded by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye).
Dr. Mümüşoğlu was appointed as a Professor at Hacettepe University in 2024. Currently, he is a partner at Anatolia IVF and Women's Health Center. His special interests include:
- In vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments
- Premature ovarian insufficiency and diminished ovarian reserve, fertility preservation
- Treatment and follow-up of endometriosis and endometrioma (chocolate cysts)
- Laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
He has published over 50 articles in international journals on these topics. In addition, Professor Mümüşoğlu has contributed to four chapters in international books and has been invited to speak at numerous international conferences worldwide. Since January 2020, he has served as an associate editor for "Human Reproduction," one of the most prestigious journals in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Since 2021, he has been an Executive Committee member of the Turkish Society of Reproductive Medicine (TSRM) and, since 2023, Turkey's representative in the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
He is married and has two sons.
